EUROPEAN DIPLOMA IN CULTURAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT 2003/2004 The European Diploma in Cultural Project Management is a pan-European training programme arising from the will to foster cultural diversity and cross-regional exchanges in Europe. The objective is threefold: To strengthen the knowledge of cultural managers about European, national and regional cultural policies; To enable cultural managers to improve their management skills; To promote the establishment of a network of regional cultural managers. This year, 23 professionals from 18 European countries are taking part in the European Diploma. Since 1989, 300 cultural managers from 38 countries followed this course. The programme is supported by the Council of Europe and the European Union. The Foundation Marcel Hicter is in charge of organising and managing the course. Who is the training for? Cultural managers from public or private organisations who are actively involved in the management of cultural and artistic projects in their region, with at least 3 years experience. The training languages being French and English, applicants must be fluent in one of these working languages and have a good passive knowledge of the other. The age limit is 45. Content and Organisation The programme is organised in 3 phases: residential sessions, practical training, and an evaluation phase+seminar. The residential sessions Two sessions of a fortnight each which take place in, two different countries each year. The next training session will be organised in Hungary in May 2003, and in Italy, October 2003 (two times a two-weeks residential phase). The themes, which will be discussed, are: Europe and culture; project management, cultural cooperation, operational management of cultural projects, fund raising etc. The practical training Between the residential sessions and the evaluation phase, the trainees return to their jobs in their own countries, and in parallel work on their respective project. They also have to do a comparative study visit in another region of Europe. The evaluation/seminar phase This one-week phase takes place each year at the European Cultural Centre of Delphi (Greece). It includes the analysis of the participants experiences and capacities, the presentation of their projects and the organisation of a thematic seminar. It will take place in June 2003. Financial participation Most of the expenses for this training programme are financed by the organiser and various partners. Each participant will pay a fee of 3.000 ¤.
